Black Blood Magazine, 2001
1. Ave DNS.
Outline please in some lines the essential and the superfluous about the band, and also all about the usual common places of starting the interview...Present the band to those who still don't know it. Tell us also about your line-up problems.
DNS: Certainly you'll get the essential facts concerning the band, but there is no need to waste precious time with superfluous things. Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult was called forth during the frostic winter months of 1997. Back then the two founding heralds were Onielar (Git.+Vox) as well as Ariovist (Drums). This line-up was reinforced after six months of heresy later by Velnias (Git.). The black heart of Slaughtercult stands for own satanic and nihilistic beliefs. This existence along with a conspiracy for raw black metal is carved deep into our hearts. Carved so deep into the already scared skin, that it seems nearly impossible to find an individual, who would be suitable for us to fill the vacant bass position. Since day one this spot has been open, and merely taken by Grigorr prior to studio sessions. After releasing the demo mCD "THE PEST CALLED HUMANITY" in 1999 Ariovist died the musical death. After two hard years of utmost hatred and battlelust the drum throne was successfully conquered by Horrn! Thus the baleful line-up is still not completed after 4 years of unholy darkened history but we are able to compensate the missing bass strangler with sheer aggression and simply pure fucking black metal. To keep the true spirit alive!!!
2. Can you speak about your full length CD, telling us especially about the lyrics?
DNS: While the first chapter was just the calm before the soulcrushing bloodstorm "FOLLOW THE CALLS FOR BATTLE" elevates itself as the second chapter to all new heights. While the sound has reached the very professional yet still black metallish raw level, and the music itself has grown to a violently blasting beast, the content of the lyrics stayed the same. There will never be any human infested political crap involved with the lyrics. DNS defends the old tradition of BM thus the lyrical enlightenment is based strictly on satanic, nihilistic, misantrophic or in general occult themes!
3. How important are lyrics for you? Could you spend some words about them describing them all?
DNS: There are two ways to manifest yourself through music. One way is to simply play music, the other is to manifest your utmost deep thoughts. If this is done with true conviction the lyrics are equally important as the music. Mostly by hearing the music it is easy to tell if it is worth reading the written wisdom, or not. It has been proven by numerous modern, disappointing so called black metal acts that apparently the first way (to just play music) is the one which is most often used. Resulting in unnecessary creations without spirit and true meaning. We prefer the second way, thus following are short comments regarding the written wisdom of the second all crushing chapter:
THANATOS: Death evolves out of the superior misantrophic power, it opens up like a gigantic portal for the earthly, human rubbish. A gateway to set free misantrophic hearts. A gateway which drastically shortens the human development. Along with the mere will power of stormy winds we are constructing pathways for them, which all lead to a great battlefield.
HORA RUID: The banner of blasphemy allows a fantastic journey back to the time of filthy Christ's birth. At this point of history we letting our will roam free... so we are closing the gates of the Christian, ran out time...and everything vanishes in the uprising flames of our strength...
FOLLOW THE CALLS FOR BATTLE: This track has the unofficial band internal name "Panzer" (which translates into tank). After having paved their own path towards destruction mankind is finally ready to meet the new messiah! A vast colossus which turns every human dwelling into a combustion chamber...it's arrival comes with deafening storms in the air, with pounding trembles in the earth, with waves in the sea!!! Oh puny, pathetic mankind.
IN THE LAND OF THE MOUNTAINS OF TREES: Speaks of the overwhelming power of fear. Starring down into the dark green dell a human is seen, foolishly trying to escape. Overwhelmed and overpowered by the impenetrable walls of trees and the shadows they cast - the escape comes to a stop while the constantly accompanying shrieks literally mire this creature in fear. The invisible force present as utmost darkness is ever so close, the voice which is luring you into madness is deep beyond the dusky shades.,,
THE RESENTFUL WANDERER: Together with "In the Land..." and "Our Glorious..." this track is sorta of a trilogy within the entirety of the album. This track needs no description, .. it speaks out of the black heart of every misantrophist. Those who's wise eyes are falling sick by the sight of natures misshapen maladies....
OUR GLORIOUS PRESENCE: A very personal text of Onielar dedicated to Velnias and their stupendous meeting in a world, to immense making a description impossible. The title says it all. Deeply rooted thoughts immortalized within the lyrical structures. Hail Velnias ... Onielar !!!
PESTILENTIAL DEATHRIDE: Being inspired through Todd's "Reflections on Death" this track speaks of a state of consciousness after leaving this level of existence. Elevated above the ordinary human rank and file, to a place unknown where the winged choristers pay witness when we breathe your last breath!
TOWARDS BERZENELON: The Principle of All and Nothing is probably the most philosophical approach on this album. It deals with astral darkness as the foundation of unconsciousness, thus meaning the I. As the closing track on the album it leaves the listener lyric wise with the utmost deep thought of greatness and power, which darkens thick fog in bottomless depths...
Of course these are just short comments. This makes it impossible for the entire lyrical strength to unfold. He who is thirsting for the entire knowledge can find the scrolls of lyrical enlightenment on www.slaughtercult.de ...
4. Why are you playing Black Metal? Do you have a particular target you want to reach with it?
DNS: While others celebrate their 10th or even higher band anniversary, furthermore are proud of having changed their style and allegiance over the course of their history, we are the type of individuals who can celebrate many years of living out the occult way before extreme music became a part of us. It is not the music which has lead to the adapted character. In our case it is the "extreme" character which has brought us to the adequate music. Thus it feels natural to perform BM. What happened to all the hatred, to all the fierce grimness? Has the flame which once torched churches, or in general laid to ashes every warrior opposing force really ceased to exist? It is our target to keep the true spirit alive. While bands like ourselves are standing knee deep in the shit crusted shinny happy modern gay BM scene (infested by the greatest pestilence) there appear more and more trend orientated, open minded bull shit spreading bands, labels, zines, etc. It is our target to restore this hatred, to keep the flame alive! We speak in favor of church burning, violence, drugs, mass murder, warfare, and everything which contributes to depopulating the earth (this comment has been taken of a true genius)! We are doing our share of opposing the falsity of Christ, the weakness of humanity, not just by spreading underground music but furthermore in our "life".
5. Do you perform live or have you never played live? Do you have future programs for your live shows?
DNS: After having accomplished to restore a very talented and fucking skillful comrade-in-arms on the drum throne we are now rehearsing in order to finally take our presence up on stage. Of course we do have certain sick ideas for the baneful DNS coming. What we can assure you is that as long as there are any releases or performances under the blasphemous banner of Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult there will be quality BM with swords, spikes and leather in the true vein: grim, dark and evil!
Your singer is a woman. Is this in your opinion an esteem exalted from people or a lack? Or, is it indifferent in the point of view of the listeners? What sort of comments have you received about her vocals?
DNS: Who gives a fuck if it is male or female, either you are wearing a crown underneath the mask or you are just another pale, empty face, which remains unseen by our weary eyes. We see ourselves as warriors. We stand shoulder by shoulder, sword by sword - if the path is enlightened by "strength" the gender is rendered useless. Letting just the remarkable comments speak themselves: Onielar adds even more beastliness and grimness with her vocals to the music, than most of her male counterparts would. Do not think all female vocals are sweat and clean, ...some individuals, like Onielar, were just meant to rip apart the wings of "angelic creatures" and their "beautiful sounds". To the point people get all excited about this fact, but to us the entirety of Slaughtercult counts, not just one part of it's legion.
7. Which is your relationship to the American band Pyre? And what about the American BM scene?
DNS: Back in the old days, when metal was fresh and pure many a few promising bands emerged still rehearsing in the garage to the disappointment of the shitsniffing neighbors. No police officers, no financial problems kept these die hards from alcohol and dirty thrash metal attitudes. Well, Raum and Velnias once shared this die hard past. Even though we are now hailing from different continents there is still the metal spirit of the late 80ies, early 90ies which lets us keep in touch. Besides our fellow combatants of the US BM Horde PYRE, there are some other promising bands hailing from the US. Vulpecula was definitely one of the strongest ones,...may they rest in the past. One band which has literally blown us away is not exactly dwelling in the BM scene: Agalloch. This formation contains a shitload of atmosphere along with the spirit of the wilderness!
8. Do you listen only to BM or also to other kinds of obscure music, as for example ambient stuff?
DNS:
Besides extreme metal there remain the classic composers, for example A. Webern, R. Strauss, Vivaldi, Grieg, J. Dowland, etc. This has no effect or influence on our music! Still this type of music is referred to being music for massmurders. Some really sick, mentally deranged ambient music reached our ears provided by a Polish project called RŽely, I think??? If ambient stuff means sickening sound images than it is more than welcome, but if ambient means shit like new dreadlock Mortiis than fuck no!
9. How is the BM scene in Germany, in these last time a lot of good bands of raw BM are coming from this area...and could you tell us about the various places for concerts in your country and how the people are reacting when a band plays? What about the Wacken Open Air Fest.?? And, usual question, what do you know of the Italian scene? About Germany's scene, what about the following bands and your relationship to them: Nargaroth, Katharsis, Apolokia, Wehrhammer, Moonblood, Warhammer, Ungod, Desaster, Blood and so on.
DNS: Why does everyone get excited about big shitty events like the Wacken Open Air, or other big time concerts? More than two thirds of the bands performing there are lousy acts, which we would not spend our money on. To make it even more attractive, there is nothing we would enjoy more than being right in between the crowded masses of the human pestilence. Fuck that - somehow this brings images of crimson violence to our minds. The one thousands tour with Immortal, Dark Funeral and Marduk is totally overdone. This does not appeal to us. Forgotten Tomb is an Italian band which was able to convince us, other Italian material has not really reached us. (This is your chance to send us free stuff...haha) More familiar is the German scene. Kanwulf is a person upon whom we look with some doubt. His works have partially appealed to us, but what a certain label is making out of it lets it appear in a daunting light. Katharsis, Apolokia and Moonblood are true underground hordes, clearly among the true black metal acts! The other bands you have stated are familiar but we do not see the point why they are being praised so much.
10. What about the Czech Republic and Russian scene??
DNS: The eastern scene provides us with some gruesome commanding troops, but unfortunately also with the usual cannonfodder. Another country which has to be named is of course Poland! Strongly recommended is the material of the proud Pagans "SALTUS" and not to forget our satanic brothers "GOETIA", both hailing from the Polish abyss of notable bands!!!
11. Are you influenced by exterior or inner element when you compose your lyrics and music?
DNS:
Influences which contribute their share in the process of composing music and lyrics come directly from the source of that which nourishes our life force. On one side it is the unwanted but unavoidable interaction with modern stupidity of society, and on the other hand it comes from our own personal experiences with the occult. While one lets the flames of hatred burn higher, the other forces the more "atmospheric" moments. Drawn back moments where the black hooded crow (or the winged choristers) solemnly croaks. An equal share of "lower", animal like beastliness and higher mental vigour. Or to put in other words, an equal share of "exterior and interior elements".
12. What are your favorite 10 albums of all times?
Velnias: (in no fucking order)
Kvist - For Kunsten Maa...
Agalloch - Pale Folklore
Ulver - Bergtatt
Borknagar - Borknagar
Emperor/Enslaved - Legendary Split
Niden Div. 187 - Impergium
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Satyricon - Dark Medieval Times
Ancient - Svartalvheim
Bathory - Bathory
Onielar: (in fucking no order)
Beherit - Drawing Down the Moon
Enthroned - Prophecies of Pagan Fire
Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
Burzum - all
Kat - 666
Massacre - From Beyond
Gorgoroth - Pentagram
Arckanum - all
Marduk - Opus Nocturne
King Diamond - all
13. What about the low diffusion of culture in the world and of the highest diffusion of a sort of commercial-culture?
DNS:
What is this question aiming at? As far as we understand and interpret this question we can try to answer it. Trend orientated, open minded, materialistic human herds will not get around a sort of commercial structure. Once the earthly treasures enter the stage where they are most precious possessions the process of spiritually advancing is over. Culture standing by itself is mandatory and self explaining for each and every country. The rate of diffusion does not matter to us. Not participating with the political correct falsity of mankind also means viewing the world's structures from the outside.
14. What about the loosing of a more spiritual matter such as also braveness can be?
DNS:
It is self explanory that human herds - which are in desperate need of a shepherd to guide them, are unable to be their own masters. Naturally this leads to the mental state of utmost blind obedience. Unable to think on their own it is always easier and more comfortable to follow the well beaten track. Furthermore placing yourself under the influence of a dogma, for example the well known Christian dogma, limits your free will to the point of complete stupidity. Let these pathetic weaklings walk the earth reduced to merely marionettes. Those who roam the spiritual world, or at least have begun the long journey toward the I shall one day cut the strings of these human puppets. Their preciously praised shepherds will be strangled with those cut off strings and tight up to the oaken tree - or for that matter to the next fucking cross, right next to the faggot savior.
15. What about the following people:
Cornelius Agrippa:
DNS:
Agrippa von Nettesheim, also known as Heinrich Cornelius who first followed theosophical thoughts. Later he moved on to the ancient Jewish, egyptian-greek secret traditions. The results of his works divided the macrocosms into three plains...
Fulcanelli:
DNS:
Jean Julien Fulcanelli a French alchemist and author of esoteric works. To be honest we have not studied and of his French works. Thus we are not familiar with more than just the name.
Stanislas De Guaita:
DNS:
Marquis Stanislas De Guaita called himself the direct successor of Eliphas Levi. De Guaita is another French occultist who's works are not really familiar to us, but if not mistaken he claimed to have contact with the dead through music and/or a state of ecstasy.
Aleister Crowley:
DNS:
Who does not know Edward Alexander Crowley? Mostly known through his association with the Golden Dawn and the Astrum Argenteum. "Master Therion" was according to many sources one of the most advanced individuals, whose involvement and works have brought many insights on the occult. Then again maybe he is just the one who dared to openly speak and publish his works?
And the following things:
Black Magic:
DNS: Terms created to explain superior forces/events which are based on moving the rational point of rotation. May that be black, white, gray, high, ritual, practical or whatever...same happened to metal - black, death, heavy, speed, thrash, power....just terms one calls it this the other calls it that. Whatever suits the "magician" best shall be used!
High Magic:
DNS: see Black Magic...
Satanism:
DNS: To us the denial of any religious authority. Another term with many individual definitions. But just one commandment: None shall come before you, you are the highest of all beings...or at least this is your goal. Basically just the continuously pushing forward to reach new heights based on the elliptical view of "reincarnation".
Wicca:
DNS: Once secret associations are now made openly available for the broad masses. A very trendy probably highly altered tradition which is now more commercial than interesting.
NS BM:
DNS: The newest trend movement. We do not speak against the NS ideologies, but we do speak against the fact of mixing politics with BM. BM and politics have nothing in common. Fuck this new modern trend. The NS scene has spawned even more idiots and morons than the gothic infested synth movement did.
Heathenism:
DNS: Heathenism also known as Paganism. Certainly offers several interesting views and thoughts, but not primarily something which we can identify with concerning DNS.
Runes:
DNS: One of the most powerful keys to unlock the mystical portals of the unknown. Not just spiritual enlightenment, but in addition guidance can be achieved through the ancient "secret whispers".
16. Humanity is big pest in your view...could you give us more info about this thought? Do you believe in the "Twilight of the Gods"? Or "Kali-Yuga" or Iron Age, and in creation through destruction?
DNS: A long time ago the earth had a healthy skin. Soon all sorts of plagues and pestilences emerged. Humanity neither the highest or greatest being is by far the greatest pestilence. They are paving the road towards ultimate destruction with their own hands. Unable to stop this progress of decay because of utmost blind obedience and undeveloped spiritual greatness. What has been created by filthy human hands, shall be destroyed by human hands. It shall be and will be laid to ashes. Concerning "Kali-Yuga" or other philosophical views which split time into several eras or cycles are worth thinking about, but it is not exactly what we meant to express with the title of the first chapter. Fact is that humanity can not stop themselves from the time of uncreation through their own fault. The view of creation through destruction is understandable - hopefully the greatest mistake of letting mankind loose upon the earth will not be done again. Maybe it stands for just great cleansing, afterall our past, the history of mankind brings forth several great minds. History shows that over the period of tome the great, spiritually highly advanced individuals have become rare. This lets the thought of an existence on new higher plains of the I after departing from the earthly plain appear in a new light. Theories like "Kali-Yuga" could bring a new beginning. May the feeble race of mankind not emerge the next time! The cosmos will strive on with or without mankind!
17. Where did you take the photos that are published in your CD? Are you fond of weapons? Do you practice some sports linked to fights? Have you ever had some "true" fights?
DNS: The bandshots of the first and the second chapter were taken at the proud ruins of two castles. We are fortunate to live in the black shadows of medieval castles. Our dwellings equal dark medieval dungeons filled with weapons, bones and other grim items. The weapon arsenal shows a broad collection of cut and thrust weapons, along with some axes and morning stars. The good old steel, not the modern coward weapons are truly fascinating. (haha then again a 500 rounds per minute spitting chain gun is also quite interesting) They stand for true strength and bloodshed.
18. Are you particularly attracted by the middle ages? What about the modern conception of war and history?
DNS: During the time of the middle ages it was more the number of soldiers which dominated the outcome of a battle. Just one great battleclash to decide over defeat and victory. Brute force and skillful swordsman are replaced by snipers, tanks and landmines. "Everything which contributes to depopulating the earth is good"! The modern art of warfare is cowardly. Th technology decides the outcome of a battle, not the manpower. Strategic wise every nation has learned through history, but history shows in addition that war is part of human nature. Newest events show that war has become more horrifying and gruesome. As far as we are concerned war is good. It does not matter if brother slays brother, their death through sharpened steel or massive bullet laceration is not important, what matters is that humans die.
19. What's the name of your personal war and how do you fight it?
DNS: There is no need to fight a personal war against humanity. Take a look at the newspaper, or nay other source of daily news. War, diseases, suicidal maniacs, accident, crashes and natural catastrophes called forth through human failure already decimate the overcrowded population. That which opposes us is getting burned, sawn or ripped down. These are just slight corrections of what humanity is unable or unwilling to adjust to our liking.
20. And what do you do in the daily life? Do you separate your normal life and BM or do you live it complimentary?
DNS: As mentioned before, our daily life as misantrophists has lead us to the ideologies of BM. Of course this means that our daily life is thus the so called "BM way". Since it is necessary to obtain a certain amount of hard earned cash to prolong the existence in this world it is unavoidable to interact with society. This interaction is reduced to an absolute minimum and accomplished by wearing a mask. So to speak is the normal life a mask to create the illusion of being human amongst humans. Without the mask we would be locked up. Safely put away, for mankind fears that which is not like them...
21. What about Nihilism? (in contrast with more "sunny" Nietzsche's philosophy) Nietzsche did refute all Christian moralities because of their nihilism...do you think BM and nihilism can have some links?
DNS: By now the aware reader should know that DNS stands also for own nihilistic views. Nietsches's works are fascinating to study - hard to understand at first but of course only trash like the weekly church news unveils it's essence, it's meaning after having read it once. Nihilism does not mean the denial of any possible revelation or knowledge. To describe our conception of this term in a few words is difficult. Certainly it is the denial of every human structure, such as political government, organized churches, etc. It does not even stop and bow down before the untouchable "human life". What is of importance to others is rendered useless in our views. Nihilism can be part of BM...although certain persons will laugh and say "that we can not be satanic, nihilistic and misantrophic at once"...well...fuck you...call us what you want, when you feel the battleaxe shoved up your ass even the most heretic tongue will grow silent.
22. Burned churches: What's your opinion on that?...Some churches, for example, the cathedral of Chartres has been built upon where before an altar of the Celtic deity Cernunnos were...and a lot of them, if people are able to interpret their architecture in a right way, can find a high heritage of knowledge, not Christian at all, but alchemical for example, who have reference in an oldest tradition (The magical one)...
DNS: It is not the architectural structure which is reduced to a heap of smoking rubble, but what it symbolizes for the religious lambs. What might have been once a shrine for Celtic or "barbaric" deities has been ceased by the followers of the one almighty Lord. "Sight seeing" certain buildings from the outside is impressive. The interior is infested with godfucking shit. What happened in Scandinavia and Poland during the active years of their BM scene is good. It did not, and probably can not stop the organized church from advancing and invading, because to many minor creatures are willing to give their belongings to the religious leaders. At least it shows the Christian filth that there is a reasonable force which will not silently bow down before God's throne. The old tradition lives on in the heart not in some beautiful to see building.
23. Which is your opinion about the old Mayhem and the new Mayhem? And about the Scandinavian scene in the '90? Since when are you acting in the BM scene both as band and as person?
DNS: It is great that the legendary Mayhem has changed their name officially to Gayhem, because they have stopped long ago to think and feel BM. Even though our great Scandinavian forefathers may have started this black movement, it is the "students" who have overcome their mentors. Fuck a Gayhammer, along with his incest Norse brothers, who changed their allegiance. The tradition of the early, mid 90ies lives on! No longer in the hearts of the creators but in the hearts and souls of those who have found their home in this rather black tradition. Our own involvement with the metal scene goes back to the mid 90ies.
24. Here in Italy some want to build Muslim's churches...and Judeo-Christianity pressure is rather high...how can we get rid off of these all organized religions and pests?
DNS: You poor bastards even have to host the pope...by the way is he still alive? We do not have a pope in Germany, because he was killed years ago. We do have Muslim shitbrick houses however! It is strange that Muslim countries do not allow any other religious movement to spread their ideologies in their Muslim fatherland. They themselves build their temples and churches everywhere. Fuck that, it is great that the holy war has begun. Lets hope that all these fucking fanatics will kill each other for their almighty father, the lord of gayness. It is understandable that the Muslim low lives are leaving their pathetic countries...who wants to live in the poverty created by fanatic idiots. Well, they should be put to death or stay at home.
25. To conclude, say what is forgotten...
DNS: Praise Jesus and you shall live in happiness and heavenly peace,...until the judging blade of the Christian holocaust strikes swift and hard. One by on...the rich, the poor, the strong, the feeble all fell down, all were slain. Contact us:
